The Youth Problem

Ennis Del Mar: You ever get the feelin'... I don't know, er... when you're in town and someone looks at you all suspicious, like he knows? And then you go out on the pavement and everyone looks like they know too?

- Brokeback Mountain

It's over! Fall semester '06 is officially done with -- well, sort of. I finished my last final exam on Friday morning, however, I'm still sitting in my sad little apartment writing this blog. Thanks to the wonderful and organized department that is Radio-TV-Film, I have to stick around for God knows how long and wait for my grades to be released so that I can personally deliver my unofficial transcript to the head of the department so that I can apply to be a RTVF major and hopefully get some classes for Spring '07 that are probably already full. **deep breath** It sucks. I want to go home.

Did anybody see the Golden Globe nominations? Check them out here: http://www.imdb.com/features/rto/2007/globes

The Good News?
- Babel leads the noms and it totally deserves it
- Little Miss Sunshine is nominated for best comedy
- Maggie Gyllenhaal is finally nominated for her work!
- Little Children is getting recognition!
- The Fountain score is nominated
- The Office and Steve Carrell are nominated

The Bad News?
- Beyonce? Best actress? It must be the end of the world.
- Bobby was good, very effective...but was not one of the best dramas this year.
- Devil Wears Prada...while I enjoyed it, I'm still figuring out why it's nominated.
- Leo Dicaprio twice in one category? Please...he wasn't that good in The Departed.
- If Johnny Depp gets nominated for another Pirates movie, I'll scream.
- Um, Desperate Housewives is a terrible, terrible show.
- Dreamgirls...I'm sure it's probably great, and I will see it...but don't you think that everyone is already talking about how great it is, but nobody's even seen it?

I'm finished ranting for today. I'm going to go spend the next few days sitting on my ass, playing Roller Coaster Tycoon, and watching reruns on The Food Network. Jealous? Here are some pictures from my trip to Austin last weekend. Enjoy!:

Allie and Emily...Emily looks like she's pondering the meaning of life.

I was in Austin because Emily and Andrew were having a joint birthday party. We had to decorate and bake cupcakes for the party, but for some reason my friends chose to bake at 3am...and din't finish until 5:30am.

El Rancho...again.
Picture 3007

The cupcake platter. I wish I would have gotten more shots of the decorations, but the flash on the camera kept fucking up the mood of the room. Oh well.

Enjoying the delicious punch I made.
