Served! Served! Served! Served!

[Wednesday is hooking up an electric chair]
Wednesday: Pugsley, sit in the chair.
Pugsley: Why?
Wednesday: Because we're going to play a game.
Pugsley: What game?
Wednesday: [strapping him in] It's called, "Is There a God?"

-The Addams Family

OH MY GOD! THE WEIRDEST THING HAPPENED!...Actually, nothing really happened, I just said that to get your attention. I know it's been awhile since last post, but what the hell. I can't tell you the number of times I've sat down, loaded all my pictures, and just sat staring at the blank blogger page. I always just end up playing a game and putting my posting off for another day...whatever. But alas, I eventually scoop up enough motivation from the empty pit which is my fucked up mind to do so.

Okay...focus. What did I do over Spring Break you ask? (Just pretend you're asking) Well, my Spring Break didn't officially start until Sunday afternoon after work. Damn HEB. But the week was pretty relaxing. Spent my nights chillin with Kristen, Alex, Krista, and Curtis. One night we went to HEB on a whim, and bought some cake mix to make cupcakes. We also watched You Got Served that night...a funny motherfucking movie. The hip-hop dance scenes were pretty intriguing, but oh God...the acting. OMARION WAS ABSOLUTELY MAGNIFICENT!! (insert studio audience laugh) My favorite line of the film was the ending when (surprise!) the good guys win the dance off and they say "Looks like you suckers just got served...SERVED SERVED SERVED!" and the audience chants with them. Haven't laughed that hard in a while.

I also went to Austin for the day with Kimberly, Ted, Scott, and Sarah. It was alright, but all we did was shop at Urban Outfitters and eat at the Hula Hut. I really need to do something different in that city, b/c that's all I've ever done is shop and eat. Oh btw, Ted is Kimberly's new interest and he's pretty cool.

I believe the only movie I saw at the theater was The Ring Two which was terrible. I really don't even feel like venting my disgust of that movie, but all I will say is the first one was smart, haunting, beautiful, and edgy. The sequal was shit, shit, shit and shit.

Awesome songs you have to check out:
Amerie "One Thing"
Ludacris "Number One Spot"
A Perfect Circle "Passive"
Tears for Fears "Head Over Heels"
The Game ft. Kanye and Ludacris "Whole City Behind Us"
Straylight Run "Existentialsim on Prom Night"
Story of the Year "Sidwalks"

I've recently been checking out a lot of trailers online, and I suggest you drop everything you are doing right now and watch the trailers I have links to below. Seriously, don't scroll, just take a few minutes and watch them. They're rad...

"Let The World Change You, And You Can Change The World"

It's me once again...Apparently I'm supposed to update this thing on a strict and regular basis, because I get complaints from readers that they have nothing to bore themselves with at the moment. Anywho, my life is pacing along steadily. Same schedule everyday: Go to class during the week, work on the weekend. It gets old, trust me. But nevertheless, I keep my head down and do what I'm expected...

For those of you who kept Sadie in your thoughts, thanks. She made it through surgery okay, and was definitely glad to see our faces in the waiting room when we came to pick her up. I'm not sure if her ear was itching or she just missed me, but the first thing she did when she saw me was thrust her head into my legs and left it there for a while. Our veterinarian now refers to Sadie as the "Wonder Dog...We keep wondering why she's still alive"

You can see most of the tiny metal sutures in her ear. It looks painful, but she's a tough little bitch.
Picture 290

I rented a couple more movies recently. CAUTION: Do not rend SAW. Shittiest acting and worst makeup ever in the history of film. The idea of the movie was okay I guess, but the movie as a whole was laughable. The ending will get you though...

Do rent, on the other hand, Maria Full of Grace and The Motorcycle Diaries. Maria Full of Grace follows a seventeen year old Columbian girl on a suspensful journey to New York with a stomach full of latex-covered heroin. That's all I should really say without getting into details. Wonderful performance my Catalina Sandino Moreno...

The Motorcycle Diaries was one of those movies that I just randomly picked up on a whim. I had read a little about it in PREMIERE and also noticed it got nominated for a couple of Oscars. It's one of the most beautiful films I've ever seen. Beautiful not only in scenery and acting, but in it's subtle messages whispered in your ear throughout the movie. The movie follows Che Guevara and Alberto Granado in 1952 on a journey through South America with their simple goals being to enjoy themselves, and meet girls along the way. "As the trip unfolds at the behest of their spluttering motorcycle, the boys discover more about themselves than they ever imagined possible." Sometimes the movie seemed so real, it felt like you were watching a documentary of the social injustice in Latin America at the time. Wonderful performance by Gael Garcia Bernal as Che Guevara, by the way. I love this movie!

Run With Me

Miles: Well, the world doesn't give a shit what I have to say. I'm not necessary. Had. I'm so insignificant I can't even kill myself.
Jack: Miles, what the hell is that supposed to mean?
Miles: Come on, man. You know. Hemingway, Sexton, Plath, Woolf. You can't kill yourself before you're even published.
Jack: What about the guy who wrote "Confederacy of Dunces"? He killed himself before he was published. Look how famous he is.
Miles: Thanks.
Jack: Just don't give up, alright? You're gonna make it.
Miles: Half my life is over and I have nothing to show for it. Nothing. I'm a thumbprint on the window of a skyscraper. I'm a smudge of excrement on a tissue surging out to sea with a million tons of raw sewage.
Jack: See? Right there. Just what you just said. That is beautiful. 'A smudge of excrement... surging out to sea.'
Miles: Yeah.
Jack: I could never write that.
Miles: Neither could I, actually. I think it's Bukowsky.

What a week! I don't necessarily mean that in a happy, excited way. It's just a relief that I actually made it through those seven days and I'm still breathing. I did pretty well on all four of my exams, got all of my stuff into UT before the deadline, got my shift picked up Friday from HEB, and Kristen came into town. We didn't do too much due to the fact that Alex was in Dallas, and we usually chill at his house. But I had fun otherwise...

On Saturday, my dad noticed that Sadie's right ear was swollen into a bubble. Assuming it was a hematoma, (filled with blood) we decided we needed to take her to the vet. Our vet's office has been upping their prices lately, so my mom was given a reccomendation by a fellow nurse at the hospital to try a new vet out in Bulverde. Sooo, my mom and I loaded Sadie up in the car. This proves to be rather difficult and embarassing due to the fact that we have to make her lay down in a bedsheet, and then proceed to lift her in the blanket into the back of the car. She's too old to jump, and she screams when you try to pick her up. It looks like we're hiding a dead corpse wrapped in sheets.

Anyway, after making the drive out to Bulverde we finally reach this new vet's office. From the moment we parked and I saw the place, I knew it was a bad idea. It looked like a shitty old shack that had survived a hurricane. The paint was chipped, there were bars on the windows, an odd smell, and a rusty refrigerator on the front porch. When you open the door, a blanket of raw stench slaps you in the face. The receptionist is shady, and we ended up waiting. After about 20 minutes of waiting, my mom left the waiting room to go outside w/ her phone. She came back inside and whispered "Get Sadie, we're leaving"...THANK GOD!

Needless to say, we got the fuck out of there and took Sadie to our regular vet. She's going back Thursday for surgery. I'm nervous b/c with a dog that old, you always have the worry that she might not make it through the anestesia. Let's hope she does okay, b/c it's going to suck if she dies in surgery. It will be very weird when she finally passes b/c she's been in my family for 15 years. Since I was three...ugh, I wish dogs lived forever.

Oscar night was Sunday, and I really don't have much to say. It was pretty predictable, and I didn't agree with some of the awards given. Also, I hope they don't continue to give out awards in the audience. That seemed so disrespectful to give out the smaller awards to people near they're seat. It's like saying, you're not good enough to stand up on stage. If I worked that hard to earn my Oscar, I would want to be able walk up on stage. Oh, may I just say that I have a huge crush on the not-so-good actress Emmy Rossum. She is incredibly hot...

Bobby brought up an interesting point the other day about Jamie Foxx's performance. There is a big difference between good acting, and good impersonating. I'm sure Jamie was great and all (I never saw Ray), but it did kinda seem like an imitation. "Wow, he can talk and walk like Ray Charles, so let's worship Jamie Foxx. " Also, is it 'hump Clint Eastwood's leg' year? That's all I have to say. I dont' care for his movies, OR HIS SHITTY MUSIC! I do enjoy Hilary Swank, though.

"Looking back at her previous Oscar win, this shows that nobody get's beaten to death better than Hilary Swank" -Daily Show

Speaking of music, I cannot stop listening to "Adagio for Strings" by Samuel Barber. Hands down the most emotional, beautiful music I've heard in a long time. I reccomend you check it out. I heard it first in the trailer for a movie coming out called CRASH. Bobby gave me a link to the trailer, and it looks great. Here's a link: http://www.crashfilm.com/

I took some more pictures out in the backyard yesterday, and I really like how they came out. It's amazing what a digital camera can capture.

Out With The Old, In With The New

Cole Sear: I see dead people.
Malcolm Crowe: In your dreams?
Malcolm Crowe: While you're awake?
Malcolm Crowe: Dead people like, in graves? In coffins?
Cole Sear: Walking around like regular people. They don't see each other. They only see what they want to see. They don't know they're dead.
Malcolm Crowe: How often do you see them?
Cole Sear: All the time.

What a fucked up week I've had. I just got through my first round of exams for the semester which all happened to land on 2 consecutive days. Let's just say I'm a moron, procrastinated, and my head hurts from reading now...Glad that's behind me, though.

I've been running recently, which is relaxing and relieves a lot of stress. I like feeling productive. My legs started to hurt around the shin last Thursday, so I figured I had just pulled a muscle. After studying so much and missing out on running at night, I decided I'd make up and go run tonight. Unfortunately, I only made it a lap around the neighborhood because I was in so much pain. My mom suggested that I might have shin splints in both legs. I went online and researched exactly what a shin splint was, and sure enough I have every symptom. I'm sure they're not as bad as they can be. I haven't gotten to the point of fracture, but I think I need to take a break from running for a while. When it starts to get warmer outside, I'll swim everyday instead.

My digital camera is still broken. I think I need to send it back to the manufacturer to see what the fuck is up w/ it. We have warranty on it. I've been using my mother's dig. though, so at least I can still take pictures.

So, I'm just going to end this post here tonight with some pictures I've had stored up in my mother's camera. Enjoy!

Do You Believe In Time Travel?

Donnie Darko: [in a letter] Dear Roberta Sparrow, I have reached the end of your book and... there are so many things that I need to ask you. Sometimes I'm afraid of what you might tell me. Sometimes I'm afraid that you'll tell me that this is not a work of fiction. I can only hope that the answers will come to me in my sleep. I hope that when the world comes to an end, I can breathe a sigh of relief, because there will be so much to look forward to.

Hallelujah! Hallelujah! I just purchased Donnie Darko: The Director's Cut on DVD! I have nothing else to post except this, so that is all for now.

And The Winner Is...

So that's it. It's over. I've been forced to accept the fact that reality television has, once again, taken over another portion of my life. I spent weeks watching Laura's model friend, Shannon, work her way to the top just to be smashed by the 19 year old sob story competition on the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Model Search. Fuck. Thanks to tricky editing, Alicia (the winner) was made out to be the bitch at the beginning of the show; the unlikeable one. But, when the judges tended to favor her later on, suddenly Alicia became the lonely helpless girl that everyone felt bad for b/c she cried on every episode about her fucked up life. Also how do we actually know America's "vote" counted. After reading the 1200 rules of voting, it pretty much says that the producers can count however many votes they want. At a Sports Illustrated Super Bowl party, apparently the reps of SI told Shannon they "weren't happy with the decision". HA! Shannon deserved it...

Oh yes, oh yes!

Is it too obvious that I've run out of interesting things to discuss on my blog? I guess the only reason I'm posting tonight is out of guilt. It's been over a week, my camera is still broken, and nothing that exciting has happened. Actually, I went running tonight in my neighborhood. Boy, was that a rude awakening. I almost collapsed in the middle of the swimming pool parking lot. I ended up taking a water break back at the house after what seemed like forever, but my mother let me know that I was only out for six minutes. I'm completely out of shape. But, I ended up going back out and running for a half hour or so.

I'm Rick James, bitch!

I'm so fucking sick of San Antonio weather. Just 2 days ago, it was raining and like 50 degrees outside. Today it was 80 degrees and sunny. Reminded me of how much I miss summer. Spring break is also getting close which is nice. I'm not going on any trip to Mexico or anything to party with friends b/c I was raised in the Lenard family...buzzkill. I think Alex's parents are going out of town, so I'm sure we'll party a little up at his house...wow, I think this is the first time I've ever used the word party and alex in the same sentence. Oooooooh...I guess I'm the only one that found that funny...

That's my cue to end tonight's post. Oh! Before I forget, Bobby Finger brought back his kickass website. For a good time, go to www.bobbyfinger.net.

Leisure Lane

Susan Orlean: I suppose I do have one unembarassed passion. I want to know what it feels like to care about something passionately.

Charlie Kaufman: I don't want to cram in sex or guns or car chases or characters learning profound life lessons or growing or coming to like each other or overcome obstacles to succeed in the end. The book isn't like that, and life isn't like that, it just isn't.

-Adaptation.

I picked two quotes from Adaptation because they both kickass. I bought Adaptation this weekend in Dallas. I also purchased Arrested Development Season One DVDs! SO funny...

So this weekend was my super sweet trip to A&M and Dallas. I'll try to sum it up in a few paragraphs and let the photos do the talking. Yes, I am aware that a lot of people read my blogs just to look at the pictures. WHAT ARE YOU TWELVE?...motherfuckers. I could be plotting the domination of the entire world on this blog, and some people wouldn't care b/c they'd be looking at pictures of me eating or something...haha. I just laughed at my own joke. I'm sad.

Anyway, I left SA town around 3 on thursday, and the drive was...tolerable. I sang a lot on my way to A&M and took pictures of myself. When I got to A&M I couldn't get a hold of Kristen b/c the Cingular service out there was down for some reason. Kim and I just when to Freebirds, and then rented Mean Creek.

We drove up to Dallas the next day around 11. When we got there we basically just hung around the house until dinner time. We had some really good sushi at this small restaurant called TEPPO. My camera broke that day so I didnt' get any pictures from that night...damn. Kim let me use her camera on Saturday so I'd have pictures to post....phew!

Saturday was fun. We went shopping at this sweet shopping center w/ a Virgin Megastore and Urban Outfitters...we spent a lot of time waiting for kimberly in UO, and she only bought a pair of shoes...stupid bitch. Anyway, that night we bought some food at World Market and grilled out and drank at Laura and Kevin's house. Good times...

The drive home SUCKED! Kim and I argued off and on, and it was raining the entire way. The drive back from A&M was pretty boring. I think I listened to Jigga What/Faint by Jay-Z and Linkin Park about 50 times.

Okay, I'm tired of typing...so just look at the pictures. They're funny...
